A policy maker for over 20 years, Senator Elaine K. Alquist (D-Santa Clara) is in the third year of her first Senate term representing the Heart of Silicon Valley in the 13th Senate District of Santa Clara County. The district covers 900,000 people living in the cities of San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Mountain View, and Gilroy. Elected in November 2004, Senator Alquist chairs the Senate Human Services Committee and the Senate Budget Subcommittee on Health and Human Services. This Budget Subcommittee has jurisdiction over $30 billion in state funds, $49 billion in federal funds and the operation of more than 33,000 state employees. She also chairs the Senate Subcommittee on Aging & Long Term Care and the Select Committee on Emerging Technologies and Economic Competitiveness. As a Senator, her priorities are providing a prosperous, safe, and secure environment for all California families and businesses

SUNPAC hosted its fourth annual fundraising event on Thursday, September 14, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM. AMD generously made its Commons Building available to us, and it was a great venue for the gathering. Not only is it a beautiful building with ample parking, but also the event center was filled with light and afforded all the facilities we needed, including catering, room for people to mingle, comfortable seating, and audio/visual equipment. The Board of Directors of the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce has decided to withdraw its sponsorship of SUNPAC.
Its reasons for this action are twofold. First, it believes that SUNPAC has sufficiently matured over the past three years of its existence to survive on its own. Second, the Chamber Board wishes to see the Chamber renew its focus on its core activities on behalf of Sunnyvale businesses ...
